Culinary training Program - Coming Soon

The Grace O. Foundation Culinary Training Program will provide research-based, hands-on courses that range from one-time classes on a particular topic to full 8-week programs for chefs and/or cooks that provide a deeper understanding of nutrition and aging, healthy eating, flavorful recipes, foods as medicine, and how to create plant-based meals.

Training will take place in a full commercial kitchen under the leadership of an experienced professional chef and nutritionist.  A special focus will be to enroll food workers currently employed in hospital, health care, senior living and community centers to meet the nutritional needs of their clients.  Currently, institutional food is often bland, devoid of nutrients and unappealing. Our goal is to create food regimens that increase the health of those who are aging and ill and improve outcomes through better nutrition.

A wonderful component of the training is that chef students will get hands-on experience by preparing hot meals each day for senior programs as part of their hands-on training that takes place in the kitchen.

Healthcare Campuses + looking Ahead

In the future, the Grace O Foundation plans to support vibrant communities by establishing healthcare campuses and seeking partnerships with food, medical and existing organizations, including senior and community centers. A variety of activities and classes will be offered, including cooking and nutrition as it relates to aging better, alternative pain and healing treatments being used in Europe and other parts of the world, application assistance to government programs and healthcare, and much more.

In addition, healthy, age-defying tasty senior meals will be provided and offer an opportunity where seniors can mingle with old and new friends and learn how they can incorporate superfoods into their meals at home. We believe that community education and social interaction are a vital part of the program and help to keep people from falling into depression and isolation, and to help them regain and maintain their health.

It is our hope to eventually provide other resources to low-income seniors such as respite care, long-term housing, assisted living, hospice, and other housing solutions.  We will seek out opportunities to enhance the lives of our participants, with the goal to always provide services and support with the upmost dignity and compassion.
